Can anyone tell me if there’s a way to adjust the inherent audio levels between the background music, SFX and the audio from any embedded clips that appear here and there during the course of any game? I noticed the volume levels of the video clips that accompany certain questions are booming compared to the background music and SFX tracks. I have a mixer so I can ride the output level, if need be, but it’s just one more thing to beware of while conducting the game…
Thank you for submitting this feedback! We’re sorry to hear you’re experiencing audio level inconsistencies.
Just to clarify, are you currently referring to witnessing significantly higher volume levels of video clips specifically from embedded YouTube videos on questions?
Assuming they’re all from YouTube, yes. Basically, the “background” music and SFX features are far lower in volume than the occasional clips that accompany some of the questions. Thanks, Jemma…
Are you referring to the volume on the Presentation View, the Participant View, or both? If you’re “riding” the levels, then this sounds like the Presentation View then?
We haven’t yet added volume controls on the background music and sound effects. For the Participant View, we assumed participants would just adjust the volume on their devices when they’re playing - how you would with any music/audio coming from your device.
Also, the background music currently fades out whenever a YouTube video starts and returns once it stops. I believe that happens on the Presentation View as well the Participant View. So they shouldn’t stomp on one another.
Now, their initial levels may be off as you say. Embedded YouTube videos may indeed be set much louder than the background music and sound effects. We will investigate and report back.
Thanks, Ross - and yes, us “Figs” are a rare breed I was specifically referring to, and concerned about, the presentation view (as I realize participants can control the volume levels on their own devices individually). As I plan to read each question as they appear, I just don’t want the soundtrack from any YouTube clips drowning me out - and since they’re much louder than the (really great, by the way!) background music track, I’ll really have to be mindful to bring my fader way down if/when any YouTube tracks appear.
In the end, I may opt to just run a separate audio track so I have one less detail to worry about. But I really liked the applause/cheering SFX that play when winners are announced… so I’m really hoping you folks can incorporate a workaround of sorts. Maybe there’s a way you folks can boost the music/SFX track so it more closely matches the volume level of the YouTube clips? Probably easier than trying to limit YouTube’s audio stream…
Anyway, greatly appreciate the feedback and responsiveness!
