Version 4.4.6 - Bug Fixes

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

Version 4.4.7 - Bug Fixes

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a critical issue introduced in 4.4.5 that caused the Participant View to not sync to the experience after participant navigates away and returns (e.g. checking a different app or returning after sleeping device). This was caused by a merge error that caused a large block of logic to not run when a player returns on their device. This affected the following to the participant:
    • The experience status to not sync (e.g. the Countdown Timer would get stuck on 0:00 or not go active or not finish).
    • An experience reset not being reflected
    • A participants votes not being reset after an experience reset
    • A Next Round not being reflected
  • Fixed a bug where a previous trivia and poll participants could get a “Bingo Card Not Found” error when manually navigating to a bingo experience.
  • Improved the “Not Found” experience for participants when manually entering an experience URL that doesn’t exist.
  • Fixed an issue when a host user tries to remove their account and confirms with an incorrect password the app would not allow any additional attempts to enter password.
  • Fixed an issue when a host user removes their account the “Removing Your Account” pop-up would show infinitely after account deletion.
  • Fixed minor UI issue on the Experience Dashboard Rankings tab when a bingo game has empty rankings.
  • Fixed minor UI issue on the Experience Dashboard Rankings tab where rankings could extend past the right-edge of the browser when viewing in low resolutions (CPDV-563).
  • Fixed a regression in the UI of Custom URLs, the Link Experience button has been removed as its not needed. Simply updating the Linked Experience dropdown now updates the Linked Experience.
  • Fixed minor UI bug in the trivia/bingo library where question mark helpers needed to be hovered over twice to work.
  • Fixed a bug in the trivia library where the max questions being met wouldn’t update the UI in real-time as questions are added/removed.
  • Fixed multiple minor client-side errors in data-checking.

Version 4.5.0 - Crowdpurr for Teams

NEW FEATURE :star2:

  • Crowdpurr for Teams - You can now invite team members via email to join your team and share your Crowdpurr experiences. You can assign access privileges including RUN, EDIT, DELETE, and CREATE to your team members at the global and per-experience level! You can review your team on the new My Team page and there’s also a new tab on the My Experiences page that displays your shared experiences and experiences that have been shared with you. Please check out our Help Center article Share Account with Crowdpurr for Teams to learn more.

NOTE: This is an open-beta and the official launch of this feature will be next week. It’s 99% functional but there are a few minor known issues that we will address next week. This feature was one of the largest overhauls of the app (underneath the hood) that we’ve done in a long time. It involved hundreds of hours of work and several developers’ work overlapping. Thank you for your patience.

Minor Updates

  • With the addition of Crowdpurr for Teams, the My Experiences page now remembers what tab you were previously on when returning. This is useful for team members who will spend most of their time on the Team Experiences tab.

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a bug on the Crowd Activity where the Remove button was missing from the table for polls and bingo games.
  • Fixed a bug where the Create Experiences page could load halfway down the page after upgrading which causes confusion with newer users who end up creating polls instead of trivia games not realizing that their browser was scrolled down the page.
  • Fixed a bug where uploading and removing your profile image on the My Account page was missing instruction labels.
  • Fixed a bug on the Participant View where if the Country field was enabled without the Phone Number field, a line of HTML source code was displayed to the participant in error.
  • Several minor visual enhancements.

Version 4.6.0 - Bug Fixes

Minor Updates

  • Aggregator Experiences: Real-time updating of aggregator experiences has been re-enabled. Aggregator experiences are experiences that are only used to show a Rankings Leaderboard for other experiences added to the aggregator experience’s Multi-Game Rankings. They serve as a real-time Rankings Leaderboard of multiple trivia or bingo games. Previously, these could be configured but they would not update in real-time unless the actual aggregator experience was being played and/or its rankings we’re manually refreshed. Now, the Presentation View of an aggregator experience will update in real-time from any votes cast on any of its added Multi-Game Rankings experiences. This is a great way to display a global leaderboard (e.g. at a trade show booth) of many days worth of trivia games and/or just multiple trivia games.

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a bug where Basic Plan team members with RUN permission could not update a trivia game or poll’s active question from the Presentation View.
  • Fixed a bug where Basic Plan team members with RUN permission could not update a trivia game or poll’s active question past the fifteenth question on the Presentation View.
  • Fixed a bug on the Participant View where if a participant had already selected a valid Advanced Team and Allow Previous Advanced Teams was disabled, it would still display the sign-in page when refreshing or rejoining the experience. Now, the sign-in screen is bypassed as if the participant has a valid Advanced Team from the list of Advanced Teams and Allow Previous Advanced Teams is disabled, there is no need for the participant to change anything in their sign-in.
  • Fixed a bug where the email input on the Login/Create Account page wasn’t validated on the client.
  • Fixed a bug where international and accented characters were not allowed in the First Name and Last Name fields, especially noticeable when creating a new account. ¡Vivá Crowdpürr!
  • Fixed a minor security issue where a user’s First Name could be updated to a URL on the My Profile page then spammed back to the user in an email causing a click on the URL. First Name and Last Name updates are now validated for illegal meta characters on the client and server. These fields are important as they are sometimes added to user emails.
  • Fixed a bug where a bingo game on the Participant View after being reset on the Experience Dashboard would continue to show the previous set of called bingo squares (CPDV-521).
  • Fixed a bug when running a Fully Automatic Mode bingo game, the first square would not be called until the Bingo Square Call Timer finished its first cycle. Now, similar to trivia questions, the first square gets called immediately (CPDV-521).
  • Fixed a bug where Crowd Controlled Mode trivia game and polls may not return to the next available question on the Participant View upon refreshing, returning, or signing back in (CPDV-396).
  • Fixed a bug where Crowd Controlled Mode trivia game and polls could get stuck and not advance to the next question if a participant already answered the current question (CPDV-403).
  • Fixed a bug where if a participant clicked the Sign Out button on the Participant View of a Crowd Controlled Mode trivia game or poll then signed back in, the first question’s timer could already be expired (CPDV-456).
  • Fixed a bug where Crowd Controlled Mode trivia games on the Participant View would not advance if Start With Practice Question was enabled and the question was not answered and the question timer expired (CPDV-552).
  • Fixed a bug when using the Next Round feature with Tournament Mode enabled where the Top X Players that are advanced may not be up to date if the rankings were not displayed. Now the rankings are always refreshed prior to the trigger of a Next Round with Tournament Mode enabled.

Version 4.6.1 - Core Updates & Bug Fixes

Minor Updates

  • Under-The-Hood Updates: Crowdpurr is made up of a large number of frameworks, packages, and components, many of which are open-source and need to be updated regularly to stay secure and current. This release updated dozens of packages (e.g. notifications, image cropping, image uploading, SMS notifications, emails, internationalization, many, many more), updated the core JavaScript framework, updated the database version, and required significant updates to many parts of the code-base. The last time we did a framework update was almost two years ago. So this was overdue.
  • Now when cropping an uploaded image, a preview is no longer displayed to reduce UI real-estate. This is aligned with modern web applications.
  • The app’s upper-right pop-up notifications received a design update.

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a nasty, long-standing bug that could cause all Participant Views in a poll or trivia game to not receive the update to go to the newly set active question. This bug only occurred about .01% of the time, but several users have been reporting it for some time and we finally rooted it out.
  • Fixed a configuration bug that was preventing SMS VIP Guest List notifications from being sent to most of the rest of world outside of the top ten or so major countries. Now more international phone numbers will successfully receive your SMS VIP Guest List notification.
  • Fixed a bug added with Crowdpurr for Teams that prevented uploading a profile image to your user account on the Profile page.
  • Corrected minor translation issues in the Danish internationalization language set.

Version 4.6.3 - Bug Fixes

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a critical bug introduced in the 4.6.1 update where a misconfigured package caused app.crowdpurr.com to no longer load on older browsers (e.g. embedded browsers in Smart TVs). The app should now work better on all older browsers in general.
  • Fixed a bug introduced in the 4.6.0 that caused an error on the Experience Dashboard when trying to trigger a Next Round from a bingo game (CPDV-579).
  • Updates Danish internationalization translations.

Version 4.6.5 - System Updates

This update focused on several critical system updates that are a continuation of the work done in the 4.6.1 update.

System Updates

NOTE ON TUESDAY EVENING INCIDENT:

On Tuesday July 16th around 8:45PM to 1AM EST, a trivia game was ran in an edge-case configuration that caused one of Crowdpurr’s micro-services, our sync server that is responsible for updating Participant Views and Presentation Views with host actions triggered on the Experience Dashboard, to overload and become slow and unresponsive. A fairly recent change to our codebase caused an unanticipated load on the microservice which normally and historically has never overloaded and has always been run with minimal resources. We have updated the microservice with twice the processing power, six times the memory, and ten times the throughput allowance. This will resolve the issue moving forward. Please accept our sincere apologies for your disrupted events and frustration experienced. We strive to deliver a smooth experience that can always be relied upon 100% of the time. As we know your live events depend on it.

  • Updated sync service to a more powerful container type to handle higher data loads based on recent code change (see incident response above).
  • Updates to the front-end web server and operating system that load-balances crowd.live and all the Custom URLs. This update notably fixes two recent critical vulnerabilities in OpenSSH (CVE-2024-6409 and CVE-2024-6387).
  • Migrated the servers that store user uploaded images (e.g. question images, answer images, etc.) to same region as the application servers for quicker performance.

Bug Fixes :lady_beetle:

  • Fixed a minor bug where Custom URLs that have been configured by the user but not added or activated would hang forever instead of forwarding to the default crowd.live.
