Hi!
We have been testing Crowdpurr for use in Europe, but so far rather large amount of users from the test base have experienced problems joining. Scanning QR code or opening a link results in a page that just gives a secirity risk message that can’'t be surpassed. For some users using wifi rather than cellural data has helped, but not for everyone.
We really would like to go forward with using CrowdPurr, but this is a major show stopper.
What could be done?
Hi @inesiite1515,
We’re sorry to hear you’re encountering an issue.
As far as we know, Crowdpurr should work fine and be accessible in Europe, as Crowdpurr is currently hosted worldwide in the cloud using Amazon Web Services. Additionally, we do have many users from international countries using the platform and running multiple experiences every day. That said, unless there’s a significant firewall that blocks off AWS, then the app should still work fine for both the host and participants.
Sometimes organizations with VPNs and certain firewalls or blockers can also cause issues with receiving automatic emails. For instance, organization-provided devices or WiFi networks tend to have networks with VPNs and firewalls, so it may help to consult your IT department and whitelist crowd.live to determine if this helps resolve the loading issue.
Hi!
What do you mean with the app? Is there one available?
And do you have any user experience from Poland? Latvia? Lithuania?
Thanks fornlooking into it!
Hi @inesiite1515, I’m happy to clarify!
By “app,” we mean the Crowdpurr web app. Crowdpurr is fully web-based, so there’s nothing to download from an app store for participants or hosts. For instance, everything runs directly in a browser on a desktop, tablet, or mobile device. Additionally, we highly recommend using a modern web browser such as Google Chrome, Firefox, Safari, etc.
For future games, we recommend encouraging players to join using a cellular data connection. The Participant View is very light in terms of data usage; even an older 3G connection is often fast enough for the Participant View to run smoothly, and will fare even better with 4G and LTE connections.
Additionally, we do have international users, including users across Europe. Unless there’s a significant firewall blocking access to AWS in a specific region, the app should still work fine for both the host and participants.
In the meantime, please feel free to reach out directly to our Help Desk at help@crowdpurr.com if you’re encountering further issues or concerns.
Hi!
We have experienced better results over wifi. But going through the Crowdpurr web app + code instead of scanning QR code hasn’t showed improvement.
It looks to be a firewall that’s trigerred by the randomly generated links. We will keep looking for solutions or workarounds, but if anyone else reaches out with similar problem or you come up with another solution, please keep me posted! ![]()
