We had our first dry run of trivia last night. Almost all of the videos just buffered and barely played. A lot of time was spent building out 50 questions to have 90% of them just be questions. The videos were an important part to answer the questions.
What can be done to have videos playback immediately, even if it means having them on the computer?
We’d be happy to look into this issue further; however, we’d like to gather further information to forward to our team. If possible, would you be able to send details of the following questions to our Help Desk email at help@crowdpurr.com?
The Experience Code of the trivia in question
What view the YouTube videos were buffering on (i.e. Presentation View, Particpiant View, or both)
The type of device, web browser, and internet connections the videos were buffering on during the dry run (i.e. iPhone using Safari and cellular data, Android using Chrome on WiFi, etc.)
These details will be very helpful for our team as they investigate the buffering issues.
While we’re currently pending more information from the original poster regarding this issue, we’d be happy to assist you if you’re also experiencing the same issue. If so, please feel free to reach out to our help desk at help@crowdpurr.com with details about your experience so we may investigate any issues you’re encountering. Thanks for checking in!
Just to clarify, do you happen to recall the privacy setting configured for the embedded YouTube videos that required users to log in before viewing the video? (i.e. Unlisted, public, etc.)
They were built into the games so I don’t know. Nearest I can tell, it’s a new setting within YouTube trying to prove that it’s humans watching and not bots which would normally be fine but not when your players only have 30 seconds to answer.
@krista Hmm… we’ll have to check into this. We haven’t personally seen any YouTube videos requiring a login. They always embed and load pretty dependably.
@raleighmoose1318 As far as loading, they can take time to load if participants are in a location where cellular coverage is weak and you’re not using WIFI.
